Candle and Textile Care

A lit TeraVida candle with a wooden wick

Candles

Under every jar I put a little sticker with three steps. Here they are, with a bit more detail:

  1. Before lighting, remove the black part of the wick. Once the candle is cool, the charred tip of the wooden wick crumbles off easily with your fingers or a tissue.
  2. Let it burn for at least 45 minutes, until the wax has melted right to the edges, especially the first time. That way it burns evenly.
  3. Never leave it burning unattended.

Good to know

  • Place it on a heat-safe surface, away from drafts, children and pets.
  • The wooden wick crackles softly as it burns. That's normal.
  • If the flame gets tall or smoky, put it out, let it cool, remove the black part and light it again.
  • Stop when about 1 cm of wax is left in the jar.

Textiles

Every piece I sew has a soft padding layer between the fabrics, so it likes a gentle hand:

  • Hand wash in lukewarm water with a gentle detergent.
  • Please never iron it: the heat would damage the padding inside.
  • Dry it flat in the air, and reshape it while it's still damp.
  • No tumble dryer and no bleach.
  • For a small mark, a damp cloth is often all it takes.
